A Word About This Site & My Social Media

This is NOT fine

To say the past week as been chaotic would be an understatement. The inauguration of the new President, the related social media nonsense, and the general political climate in the US has changed completely. Those of you who know me personally understand - and most of you share - my concern for the next four years and beyond.

First and perhaps most important, I want all of you who visit this site who are part of a marginalized community to know that this is a safe space. I support the rights of minorities, immigrants, the LGBTQ community, and anyone who has become, once again, a target of our new administration. And while I welcome everyone to this site and my various social media platforms, if you are a supporter of our new government leadership, I ask that you also recognize this as a safe space and keep your beliefs and rhetoric to yourself while engaging others here. I maintain, as always, a zero tolerance policy toward hate.

Second, due to the recent politicization of several social media sites and the behavior of their owners, I will no longer be a member of TikTok or any Meta platforms (Facebook, Instagram, & Threads). My website will be updated shortly to reflect this as my accounts for each have been deleted. I will continue to use YouTube for the time being. In addition I will be posting on Red Note for as long as it remains available in the United States, and I encourage others to try it out. The community there has been unbelievably welcoming. Speaking directly to the citizens of China through social media has presented a very different view of society there. I realize the content of Red Note is subject to control of the Chinese government, but honestly can we say anything different about TikTok or Facebook now that they’ve become propaganda-friendly to the new POTUS?

I’m not going to use this site or any of my social media accounts as political platforms, however I felt it was necessary to make clear that hate, division, and marginalization are strictly forbidden in the small corner of the Internet I control. Thank you for understanding.
