Galaxies Galore

The weather is still hit-and-miss here in Northern Kentucky as we move into March. However, there have been a few clear nights mixed in and I’ve used that time to capture some of the more interesting galaxies currently in the sky. The latest capture is the Leo Triplet.

The Leo Triplet, a group of closely positioned galaxies in the constellation Leo. On the left is the “Hamburger” galaxy.

I also capture the globular cluster, M3. Globular clusters are densely packed groups of hundreds of thousands of stars. The current theory is that these groups are left behind after galaxies merge.

M3, a globular star cluster in the Southern sky.
